JSE Ventures Carbon Market: A Voluntary / Compliance Solution
The JSE Ventures Carbon Market – a collaboration between Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Xpansiv – is a transparent online marketplace for transacting carbon and renewable energy certificates via CBL®, the largest spot venue for environmental commodities. The marketplace provides direct access to hundreds of carbon credit and international renewable energy certificates (I-REC) instruments.
Offerings
The JSE Ventures Carbon Market leverages Xpansiv® infrastructure, including CBL’s matching engine, counterparty network and liquidity pool. It also uses the Xpansiv® Connect™ multi-registry portfolio management system to provide access to live carbon credit and international renewable energy certificate (I-REC) spot markets.
Carbon Credits
Trade voluntary and compliance carbon credits – including South African compliance carbon offsets (COAS) – and standardized VCM and CORSIA contracts on the market’s fully transparent order book. Settle bilateral OTC trades efficiently through its automated post-trade settlement infrastructure, which is integrated with the world’s leading carbon credit registries.
I-RECs
Trade international renewable energy certificates (I-RECs) on JSE Ventures Carbon Market’s fully transparent order book. Settle OTC trades securely using the market’s automated post-trade settlement infrastructure, which is integrated with the Evident I-REC(E) registry. For participants who don’t have a registry account but would like to transact I-RECs, Xpansiv can hold and retire credits on their behalf.
