Xpansiv and KRX to Collaborate on Korean Carbon Credit Market Launch

NEW YORK, LONDON, SYDNEY, and BUSAN, KOREA — Xpansiv, the leading infrastructure provider for the global energy transition markets, and the Korea Exchange (“KRX”), announce they have executed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing their strategic collaboration to support the launch of the KRX Carbon Credit Market in Korea. The collaboration between both companies is designed to support KRX’s market for voluntary carbon credits used in corporate emissions programs, Article 6 markets established in the Paris Agreement, and compliance programs, including the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

To strengthen its environmental markets business, KRX plans to link its KRX Carbon Credit Market with Xpansiv’s CBL which is the largest carbon credit spot exchange. This will enable the KRX Carbon Credit Market to launch with an order book supported by hundreds of active market participants and attract order flow from overseas institutions, to drive transparent price discovery and liquidity formation on the market.

“Korea Exchange, which operates one of the world’s largest compliance carbon markets, aims to foster Asia’s leading carbon market. In this process, we expect to explore opportunities for cooperation with Xpansiv, which operates a global carbon credit market, across various dimensions,” said Korea Exchange Chairman and CEO Eun-bo Jeong.

“We are pleased to advance the collaboration between KRX and ourselves to create more connected global markets,” said John Melby, CEO, Xpansiv. “We look forward to working with the exchange to develop the KRX Carbon Credit Market, which will provide robust market mechanisms to enable stakeholders to reach their critical energy transition goals.”

On September 16, 2025, Xpansiv and KRX held a signing ceremony in New York City to kick off the partnership. Photographs of the ceremony are available from KRX and Xpansiv.
