Russell Karas Joins Xpansiv as Head of Carbon Market Development to Expand Portfolio of Carbon Contracts

SYDNEY, NEW YORK, SAN FRANCISCO, LONDON — Xpansiv, the global marketplace for ESG Commodities, today announced Russell Karas as Head of Carbon Market Development, joining the International Carbon team to expand the company’s portfolio of standardized carbon contracts.

“I’m overjoyed to be joining Xpansiv at this pivotal moment in the evolution of carbon markets,” Karas said. “My focus will be on building liquidity on Xpansiv market CBL, the number one marketplace for voluntary emissions credits, promoting transparency and integrity and expanding our customer base through sales and education efforts.”

There is steadily rising demand from traders and corporations around the world seeking more ways to price and transact emissions credits. “Supply standards and buyer demands are constantly evolving,” Karas said, “and the market needs standardized spot-market solutions more than ever. Karas most recently served as Senior Director for CME Group, managing the company’s environmental and North American oil and refined products businesses. He oversaw the launch of several pioneering exchange-cleared environmental contracts, including CBL GEO and N-GEO futures. Prior to that, he was a consultant focused on climate policy and energy efficiency at Science Applications International Corporation.
